Energy Performance Certificates are a legal requirement in the UK.
Domestic Energy Performance Certificates inform prospective buyers or tenants about the energy performance of a building so it can be considered as part of their investment.
The EPC will provide an energy rating from A-G and is based on the energy performance potential of the property (fabrics) and its services (heating, ventilation, lighting).
All domestic and commercial EPCs must be produced by an accredited Energy Assessor and are accompanied by a Recommendation Report, which will highlight measures to enhance the buildings energy performance. EPCs are valid for a 10 year period and there are financial penalties in place for non-compliance.

Retrofit assessments:
What Is a Retrofit Assessment?
A Retrofit Assessment is the first and most crucial step in any energy efficiency upgrade project under the UK’s PAS 2035 standard. It provides a detailed evaluation of a property's current condition to identify opportunities for improving energy performance.
✅ What Does It Include?
A qualified Retrofit Assessor carries out three key evaluations:
Occupancy Assessment – Understands how the home is used and lived in.
- Condition Survey – Checks the building’s structure, damp, ventilation, and repair needs.
- Energy Report – Assesses current energy performance and potential improvements.
This data is then passed to a Retrofit Coordinator, who uses it to design a tailored, whole-house improvement plan
🏡 Why Is It Important?
- Ensures upgrades are safe, effective, and long-lasting
- Prevents issues like damp, mould, or overheating
- Required for all publicly funded retrofit projects in the UK
- Supports the UK’s goal of achieving Net Zero by 2050
